Camp Roadrunner at Austin Waldorf School
Voted 2013 Overall Favorite by Camp Sloop families, Camp Roadrunner allows kids, ages 6-12 an opportunity to enjoy an old fashioned hill country summer. The wide open spaces, shady playgrounds, and excellent facilities on the 19 acre campus provide the perfect space for children to relax and enjoy themselves.
Camp Roadrunner began accepting campers up to age 12 last year. Welcoming Middle School age campers into the program proved to be a worthwhile venture. Week after week, these older campers, the Sequoia Group, were able to take every activity to a new level. They put on a talent show last summer that included magic, songs, gymnastics, skits, and dance. Several of the older campers enjoyed crafting props and costumes for the younger group's plays that week using items such as broken umbrellas, fabric, paper mache, and duct tape.
During the Penny Circus, the Sequoia Group wowed the audience with aerial silks routines, juggling, unicycle rides, and balancing stunts. The week of Don't Try This at Home always gives everyone, even the oldest campers, a chance to forget about being "cool" for the week, and just enjoy being a kid.
Each week themed activities are altered for each specific age group. Whether your camper is just entering elementary school or on their way out of middle school, the teachers and counselors at Camp Roadrunner strive to engage, challenge, and support every camper to make the most of their time at camp.
